A Carnival of Memories
The South Agora came alive with vibrant carnival festivities, transforming into a nostalgic wonderland. Alumni indulged in buttery corn cups, nuts in paper cones, and other old-school snacks that rekindled the flavors of their campus days. The familiar spaces brimmed with life as attendees rediscovered cherished corners, sharing stories of their student days.
But Balik Kampong was more than just nostalgia—it was a testament to RP’s role in nurturing entrepreneurial spirit and creativity. Alumni proudly showcased their ventures, turning the carnival into a hub of inspiration.
Harmonious Beginnings
The event began on a high note with a stirring performance by RP Wind Harmony. The melodies set an upbeat tone, soon complemented by the vibrant energy of RP’s Create club members, whose music electrified the atmosphere.
“It’s fascinating to see students pursuing their passions in so many creative ways—through games, activities, or food stalls. There’s so much engagement here!” shared Marissa Mar’ie, an alumna of the former Diploma in Micro and Nanotechnology.
Shining a Spotlight on Alumni Innovation
Balik Kampong also highlighted the entrepreneurial spirit of RP graduates through its alumni booths.
One standout exhibit was LeoCrystalMeraki, helmed by Nirmal Bhai, an alumna of the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science. Inspired by her childhood desire to care for loved ones with chronic illnesses, Nirmal now works in healthcare while pursuing her passion project. Her booth featured Tibetan singing bowls, known for their soothing sound frequencies that promote mental clarity and positive energy.
“It doesn’t matter how long it takes to reach your destination—the goal is to keep going,” Nirmal advised, reflecting her resilience and determination.
Another showstopper was EYO, a venture founded by Sho Chen Yi Siang, a Sports Coaching alumnus. After a jaw surgery left him reliant on fluids, Sho created a nutrient-rich, plant-based powder to cater to diverse dietary needs.
“My background in sports coaching gave me a solid understanding of nutrition, which was crucial in developing EYO,” Sho explained. His innovative product not only addresses dietary challenges but also embodies the RP values of creativity and perseverance.
A Homecoming to Remember
As the day drew to a close, attendees left with more than memories—they carried inspiration, renewed connections, and a deep sense of belonging to the RP community.
Balik Kampong 2024 wasn’t just a celebration; it was a reminder of the unbreakable bonds formed at RP and a spark for future collaborations and reunions.
With its perfect blend of nostalgia and innovation, Balik Kampong 2024 set the stage for even greater stories in the years to come.
