Watching How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies was an emotional journey that struck a deep chord within me. The film’s depiction of ‘M’ and his grandmother’s bond made me reflect intensely on my own relationship with my grandmother. As ‘M’ struggled to win his grandmother’s favour amidst her terminal illness, I couldn’t help but think of the many sacrifices and moments of love shared with my own grandmother. Every scene, filled with heartfelt conflicts and tender moments, resonated deeply – only half way into the movie, my jacket sleeves were already soaked in my tears.

As the film reached its poignant conclusion, I felt an overwhelming urge to call my grandmother. The movie had stirred up so many emotions that I wanted to hear her voice, to tell her how much I loved and missed her. However, it was already midnight, and since she lives in the Philippines, a simple visit the next day was not possible. The realisation that I couldn’t immediately reach out to her added to the heartache, making my longing even sadder.

The film left me with a powerful reminder of the importance of cherishing our loved ones while we still have a chance. It underscored the fleeting nature of time and the irreplaceable value of family bonds.
